Every race has its own unique language, including many of the NPC races. If you are born into a certain race, you will be able to speak its language fluently. In addition, everyone can speak common. You can learn other languages by exposure to them or through using training points (not recommended as the points are really more useful elsewhere). The easiest way to learn a language is to ask a friend who speaks that language to program a random sentence into a hot key and spam it to you over and over while you are grouped. You will quickly build up proficiency in the language that way.

You can only teach a language up to one point above the proficiency with which you speak it yourself. Knowledge of the various languages really has only a limited impact on the game. If you are a caster and wish to do research, you need to know certain languages to make out the research tomes and learn the formulae. Also, occasional scrolls and books crop up that are written in different languages. These can be fun for role playing aspects and to learn more about the history of Norrath.

- The best way to teach is to be in the same group, in the same zone. by a zone line helps (explained below)
- Set up a "SOCIAL" key by right clicking on one you don't use.
- Next type in a 3 to 5 lines of text (The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy red dog) or what ever you like
- Then move the button to one of the 6 hot key buttons (i have page 6 setup with the same button 4 times) See pic above
- If you ignore Group Chat, you will not fill up your screen with spam, and You will still learn the language.
- You can NOT Spam using; /Say, /Guild, /Shout, /Ooc, /Tell, /Auction. There is a time delay on them. & Only the First Line of test in the hot key will go through.
- You Will get less Lag if the "/Filter badword" command is *OFF*.
- When you think the lesson is complete, Just keep Ducking until the other player stops. (easier to see than text sometimes)
- You will not see or read any of the change in your skill until you zone or log.
- The maximum language skill level is 100. (witch is master)
- You do NOT need to invest a skill point to start to learn a language.
- Some languages start to become available to you at your guild trainer as you move up in levels also.

this Language Guide is only accurate for the NON Role Playing Servers (the Firiona Vie Server) This Server has a Slightly Different set of Rules about learning Skills and how languages affect the game. i will not go in to them here.
